Programming and data services

I am a scientist with years experience at the Smithsonian Institution in large-scale data projects in environmental sciences. My expertise includes large databases, advanced statistical modeling in R or C++, and web data, and covering marine biology and forestry. I have worked as a consultant in many aspects of environmental monitoring and life cycle assessment in North America, South America, Africa, and Europe.

Don't pay for statistical software. I can show you how to do it all on your own in R. Contact me via text or email.

    Consulting work

    Nicaragua

I am working with a team of environmental scientists to design conservation offsets ahead of the planned interoceanic canal across the country. I wrote this article on the topic in 2015.

    Forest monitoring

I designed forest observation projects in Panama, Ecuador, the US, Cameroon, and the Congo. I wrote this article many years ago describing early stages.

    Life cycle assessment

I have worked with a team of environmental scientists to publish rigorous standards for assessing the impact of forestry-related industry. Life-cycle assessments indicates that the goal is to measure the impact over all phases, from initial forest harvest to waste products at the end of treatment. My expertise is in the precise measurement of how a forest is altered by the harvest of whatever products are required, usually but not always wood.

    Forest plantation

A teak plantation in Panama developed by an environmentally-aware business sought my services in documenting, and reducing, impact on the plantation and surrounding forest. I designed system of documenting native species present in the teak plantation compared to native forest.
